Since several governments throughout the world are making it necessary to wear face masks while venturing out, the feature was very much anticipated as several iPhone users like FaceID over alternative unlocking ways. The lack of another biometric verification additionally made it difficult for users to unlock their phones instantly.

Earlier, iPhone users wearing a mask would need to sit up for the phone to attempt to identify your face first and only then give the choice of typing the passcode. With the new update, Apple has created a shortcut on the screen to enter the passcode directly. This shortcut will appear as soon as you swipe up to unlock the device. There will be no necessity to await the FaceID to try unlocking unsuccessfully.

Second major feature that has been introduced in the new update is that Apple and Google's new API has been included for exposure notification. This new function will allow apps released by agencies to verify if the user has been in close proximity who has been diagnosed with Covid-19. The new API will remain inactive till the time the user installs one of the agency applications.
